How much is a transfer from Innsbruck Airport to Mayrhofen?
Innsbruck Airport sits on the western edge of the city and Mayrhofen is at the head of the Zillertal, so this is a valley run rather than a city one. The road is the A12 Inntal motorway east as far as the Zillertal junction, then the B169 Zillertal Bundesstrasse south for the whole length of the valley, past Fuegen, Kaltenbach and Zell am Ziller, to Mayrhofen at the end of it.
Our price is agreed when you book and does not move afterwards. A car taken at the airport rank is a different arrangement, and the reason is worth knowing before you join the queue: the Innsbruck tariff that governs a metered fare stops at the city boundary, so a Zillertal run is outside it and is priced by agreement with the driver instead. The airport publishes its own guide figure for exactly this journey, and it is in the table below. That figure is for the whole car, and on recent quotes it has been lower than ours.
In summer the drive is an unremarkable one. In winter it is the same road and a slower one. The valley floor holds snow, the B169 carries everyone heading for Hintertux and the Zillertal Arena in the same Saturday hours, and Austrian law expects winter tyres or chains the moment the surface turns wintry. Allow more time for a January changeover day than for the same journey in July, and tell us the flight rather than a clock time you have guessed.
For one or two people travelling light, the alternatives priced in the table below undercut any private car and we would rather say so here than let you work it out afterwards. A booked car earns its place on a late landing, on a party with skis and boot bags, and on an address that is a chalet up the Zillergrund or over in Finkenberg rather than the middle of Mayrhofen.

Where do I meet my driver at Innsbruck?
- Come through arrivals and out to the front of the terminal. The airport puts its taxi stand directly in front of the building, so everything on this page starts within sight of the arrivals door.
- Contact your driver as soon as you land, their number is in your supplier details email. That email arrives separately from your booking confirmation, so save the number to your phone before you fly.
- Express pick-up is included in the price you paid: the driver waits at the airport's designated pick-up point rather than inside the hall. Being met in the arrivals hall with a name board is meet and greet, a paid extra you add at checkout. Innsbruck publishes no fixed meeting point of its own for pre-booked drivers, which is precisely why the call matters here.
- Do not join the rank queue by mistake. The stand outside the terminal is for walk-up fares and your driver will not be in it unless they tell you otherwise. If you need a hand finding anyone, the information desk is in the check-in hall.
- Your flight is tracked at no charge, and your booking carries 60 minutes free waiting after your flight lands, so a slow bag belt on a Saturday in February does not cost you the car.

Rank, ride-hail, drop-off and the facts that move the meter
The regulated meter stops at the city boundary
Innsbruck's taxi tariff is made for the territory of the city, and it expressly excludes journeys that go beyond that area. Every resort run on this page is outside it. The Innsbruck tariff does not apply beyond the city, so the fare for a resort run is a matter of agreement with the driver, which is why the number you settle before you set off is the number that matters.
(Landeshauptmann von Tirol, Verordnungsblatt fuer Tirol Nr. 132/2025, checked 16 September 2026)What the Innsbruck meter charges inside the city
For journeys that do stay in Innsbruck the tariff in force since the start of 2026 is a base of 8,25 euros covering the first kilometre, then 2,15 euros a kilometre, charged in steps of 0,20 euros. Waiting time is billed at 45 euros an hour once the car drops below about 21 km/h. Between 22.00 and 06.00 on weekdays, and all day on Sundays and public holidays, the base charge is 10,50 euros instead.
(Landeshauptmann von Tirol, Verordnungsblatt fuer Tirol Nr. 132/2025, checked 16 September 2026)An agreed fare is binding on the driver
Where a journey is ordered through a communication service and the fare, the pick-up point and the destination are agreed at the time of ordering, the regulation says the agreed fare may not afterwards be exceeded, and no meter need be used at all. That is the legal shape of what we sell: one amount, fixed at booking, with the risk of a slow road sitting with the operator rather than with you.
(Landeshauptmann von Tirol, Verordnungsblatt fuer Tirol Nr. 132/2025, checked 16 September 2026)The airport prints its own resort price list
Because there is no meter scale for a valley run, Innsbruck Airport publishes a sheet of standard recommended fares from the terminal, resort by resort. It puts Mayrhofen at 170 euros, St. Anton am Arlberg at 215 euros and both Ischgl and Obergurgl at 220 euros, and it warns that the figures move with the number of passengers and the amount of luggage. Compare our quote against those rather than against a city meter.
(Innsbruck Airport (Tiroler Flughafenbetriebsgesellschaft m.b.H.), checked 16 September 2026)Ten minutes at the kerb, then the clock starts
If someone is dropping you off or collecting you, every car park gives free exit within 10 minutes. After that the short stay car parks P1 and P3 charge 3,70 euros for the first hour and for each hour after it, up to 37,00 euros a day, and the multi-storey is 3,20 euros an hour and 32,00 euros a day.
(Innsbruck Airport (Tiroler Flughafenbetriebsgesellschaft m.b.H.), checked 16 September 2026)Two of the car parks close for the winter
The airport has 450 outdoor spaces and 1,200 more in the multi-storey, all a few steps from the terminal, but P1 and P5 are not available in winter. If you are leaving a car here over a ski week, that is the detail that decides where you end up parking.
(Innsbruck Airport (Tiroler Flughafenbetriebsgesellschaft m.b.H.), checked 16 September 2026)Winter tyres are a condition, not a date
Austrian law is more specific than the shorthand suggests. Between 1 November and 15 April a car may be driven in wintry conditions only with winter tyres on all four wheels, or with chains on at least two driven wheels where the road is under a continuous layer of snow or ice. It is the state of the road that triggers the rule, not the calendar, which is why a mild valley floor and a snowed-in resort road can be governed differently on the same afternoon.

How much is a taxi from Innsbruck Airport to Mayrhofen?
Our price is quoted live on this page and fixed once you book. There is no meter figure to compare it with, because Innsbruck's taxi tariff applies only inside the city and expressly excludes journeys beyond it. What the airport does publish is a sheet of standard recommended fares from the terminal, and that sheet puts Mayrhofen im Zillertal at 170 euros, with a warning that the figure moves with passenger numbers and luggage. That guide figure is for the whole car, and on recent quotes it has been lower than our price, so compare the two on the day: booking with us buys a price agreed before you fly and a driver already waiting, not a saving.
Is there a taxi rank at Innsbruck Airport?
Yes. The airport says the taxi stand is directly in front of the terminal and that you can get into a taxi straight off your flight. You cannot pre-book a car in that queue, though, and for a resort run the fare is a matter of agreement rather than a published scale. The airport names no ride-hail platform and publishes no ride-hail pick-up arrangement either, so there is no app collection point to look for. The information desk in the check-in hall is where the airport sends anyone who needs help with any of it.
How do I get from Innsbruck Airport to the city centre?
Bus line F runs directly between the terminal and Innsbruck Hauptbahnhof and takes about 20 minutes, calling in the city centre on the way. A single for the Innsbruck core zone is 3,30 euros in advance sale, and there is an early service that reaches the airport at 04.47. The catch that costs people money is that you cannot buy a ticket on board: Innsbrucker Verkehrsbetriebe sells them at machines at the stops, at parking meters around the city, at its customer service centre and online.
Is there a train from Innsbruck Airport?
Not from the terminal. The airport has no station of its own and points rail travellers at Innsbruck Hauptbahnhof, which line F reaches in about 20 minutes. From there Tyrol's network opens up, and for some resorts that is genuinely the better answer: St Anton am Arlberg, for instance, has direct services from Innsbruck all day.
How long does it take to reach the ski resorts from Innsbruck Airport?
The airport's own claim is that nearly all of Tyrol's well known winter sports resorts are within roughly one hour of the terminal. That holds for the Stubai, Seefeld and the near Zillertal. The Arlberg, the Paznaun and the head of the Oetztal are further out, and their transfer times stretch in winter when the valley roads fill up on changeover Saturdays.
Do I need winter tyres or snow chains?
Not you, but the vehicle does. Between 1 November and 15 April Austrian law lets a car be driven in wintry conditions only with winter tyres on all four wheels, or with chains on at least two driven wheels where the road is under a continuous layer of snow or ice. Coaches have their own version of the rule and must carry chains through the same period. Vehicles quoted here are operated by licensed local suppliers who work these roads all winter.
Is the motorway toll included in my fare?
Yes, and so is everything else about the road. Austria charges for its motorways by vignette rather than by barrier, the Zillertal tourist board tells drivers to buy the digital one before they set off, and ASFINAG prices a car vignette at 9,60 euros for a day, 12,80 euros for ten days and 106,80 euros for the year. With us that is the operator's cost, because your fare was agreed before the journey and does not change.
What does it cost to drop someone off at Innsbruck Airport?
Nothing if you are quick. Every car park gives free exit within 10 minutes. Past that, the short stay car parks P1 and P3 charge 3,70 euros for the first hour and for each further hour up to 37,00 euros a day. Worth knowing in winter, when P1 and P5 are closed altogether and the multi-storey is doing all the work.
Where do I meet my driver at Innsbruck Airport?
At the airport's designated pick-up point on the arrivals side. Innsbruck publishes no fixed meeting point of its own for pre-booked drivers, so ring yours as soon as you are on the ground, on the number in your supplier details email, and they will tell you exactly where to walk. Express pick-up of that kind is included in what you paid. Being met inside the hall with a name board is meet and greet, which is a paid extra at checkout.
Can I take skis and boot bags?
Yes, but tell us at booking rather than at the kerb. Skis and boards change the vehicle we need rather than just the boot arrangement. A saloon takes three passengers with two or three standard suitcases, depending on the car quoted, an estate four passengers and three suitcases, a people carrier five passengers and four suitcases, and our eight seater eight of each. Ski bags count as luggage, so a party of four with full ski kit is an estate or a people carrier rather than a saloon.
Can I get a child seat?
Yes, on request when you book. Tell us the ages and we pass it to the supplier with the job. Seats are not something to rely on finding at a rank at midnight in January, which is the usual reason families book this leg ahead.
What if my flight is late, and can I cancel?
We track the flight and move the pick-up to the real landing time at no extra charge, so book for the scheduled arrival rather than padding it, and the free waiting window included in your fare starts when the aircraft lands. Cancel more than 24 hours before pick-up and you pay nothing; inside 24 hours the booking is charged in full. Payment is online by card when you book, for the whole vehicle rather than per seat.
How far ahead do I need to book a transfer from Innsbruck Airport?
At least 24 hours before your pick-up. We can't take bookings at shorter notice here. If you have just landed and need a car now, the airport taxi rank is the quickest option.
