How much is a taxi from Málaga Airport to the city centre?
The airport sits about eleven kilometres west of Málaga, and everything on this page leaves from the same Floor 0 arrivals level, so the choice is really about luggage, the hour you land and how many of you there are.
Our price is agreed when you book and does not move afterwards. A rank car is metered instead, and the meter that applies to a journey starting at the airport is not the one that applies in town: Málaga sets three separate airport tariffs with their own minimum fares, and the one you get depends on the day and the hour.
Leave the city limits and the meter changes again, this time to the Andalusian interurban scale, which is why a run down the coast is priced quite differently from a run into town.
Where a booked car earns its money is a night landing, a party of four or more with hold luggage, travelling in an estate or a people carrier priced as one car, or an address that is not the centre. Travelling alone in daylight into the middle of Málaga, the alternatives below are cheaper and we would rather say so here than let you work it out afterwards.

Where do I meet my driver at Málaga?
- Clear customs and follow the signs to Arrivals on Floor 0. That level is where the airport puts its ground transport, and it is where your driver will be waiting.
- Contact your driver as soon as you land, their number is in your supplier details email. It arrives separately from your booking confirmation, so save it to your phone before you fly.
- Express pick-up is included in the price you paid: the driver waits at the airport's designated pick-up point rather than inside the hall. Being met in the arrivals hall with a name board is meet and greet, a paid extra you add at checkout.
- Do not join the rank queue by mistake. Aena puts the public taxi stops at Arrivals and the app cars in the car parks, and your driver is at neither of those unless they tell you otherwise.
- Your flight is tracked at no charge, and your booking carries 60 minutes free waiting after your flight lands, so a slow bag belt does not cost you the car.
Contact your driver as soon as you land, their number is in your supplier details email.
Arrivals-hall meet and greet with a name board is available as a paid extra at checkout.
Rank, ride-hail, drop-off and the facts that move the meter
The airport has its own taxi tariffs
A journey starting at the airport is not charged at city rates. Tarifa 4 applies on working weekdays from 06:00 to 22:00 with a minimum fare of 18,24 euros, on a flag fall of 1,88 euros and 1,05 euros a kilometre. This is the single most useful thing to know before you join the queue.
(Ayuntamiento de Málaga, Área de Movilidad, checked 14 September 2026)At night and at weekends it is a different tariff again
Tarifa 5 carries a minimum of 22,48 euros and covers weekday nights, weekends, public holidays and the daytime hours of the official Feria and Holy Week periods. Tarifa 9 carries a minimum of 25,80 euros and covers Friday and holiday-eve late evenings, weekend nights, and those festival periods between 20:00 and 06:00.
(Ayuntamiento de Málaga, Área de Movilidad, checked 14 September 2026)The meter is a maximum, not a quote
The city's own guidance sheet at the airport ranks says every urban and interurban service must be charged by taximeter and that the metered figure is the maximum price. A driver quoting you a round number before you set off is quoting something the tariff does not contain.
(Ayuntamiento de Málaga, Área de Movilidad, checked 14 September 2026)The airport supplement runs the other way
The 6,49 euro airport supplement is charged on journeys TO the airport, not on journeys from it. Cases in the boot are 0,58 euros each and there is a 2,23 euro night supplement between midnight and 06:00.
(Ayuntamiento de Málaga, Área de Movilidad, checked 14 September 2026)The meter counts the journey back as well
Once a journey crosses the city boundary it is priced on the Andalusian interurban tariff, 0,71 euros a kilometre by day and 0,82 at night and at weekends, with the flag fall applied only below 12 kilometres. The part nobody mentions is Article 7 of the same Orden: the route is treated as a closed circuit back to the starting point unless you agree otherwise, so the meter counts the return leg you are not travelling on. That is why the city's own guidance amounts come to roughly twice the distance times the rate.
(Junta de Andalucía, Dirección General de Movilidad y Transportes, checked 14 September 2026)There is no train into the city before breakfast
The first C-1 towards Torremolinos and Fuengirola calls at the airport at 05:31, but the first train in the other direction, into Málaga Centro Alameda, does not call until 06:44. Land before that and the railway is not an option in the direction most arrivals want.
(Consorcio de Transporte Metropolitano del Área de Málaga, checked 14 September 2026)The cheap city ticket does not work on the airport bus
EMT's ordinary 1,40 euro ticket and its ten-journey top-up are valid on every line except line A. The airport line has its own 4,00 euro ticket, one journey only, sold on board or at the window by the arrivals exit door.

How much is a taxi from Málaga Airport to the city centre?
Our price is quoted live on this page and fixed once you book. From the rank it is metered: the airport tariff on a working weekday between 06:00 and 22:00 is Tarifa 4, minimum 18,24 euros, on 1,05 euros a kilometre. Over the 11 km into the centre the flag fall of 1,88 euros plus 11 kilometres at 1,05 euros comes to 13,43 euros, which is below the minimum, so the minimum fare is what you pay, plus 0,58 euros for each case or bag in the boot. The city's guidance sheet still shows about 17 euros for the same run, but it is headed Tarifas 2025 and that figure is the superseded minimum rather than a current one. Aena's own taxi page still lists the older, superseded figures, a 17,37 euro minimum at 1 euro a kilometre, so treat the municipal sheet as the current one.
Is there a taxi rank at Málaga Airport?
Yes. Aena lists the taxi stops at Arrivals and names two firms working the airport, Taxi Unión and Unitaxi. You cannot pre-book a rank car: you join the queue with everyone else off your flight and the flights either side of it.
Is there a bus from Málaga Airport to the city centre?
Yes, EMT's line A express. The ticket is 4,00 euros for a single journey, bought on board in cash or by card or as a QR ticket in the app, or at the window beside the exit door of the arrivals terminal. It runs every 20 to 25 minutes at peak and stops at the bus station and the AVE station. Note that it takes no transfers and that EMT's ordinary 1,40 euro ticket is not valid on it.
Is there a train from Málaga Airport?
Yes, the Cercanías C-1 between Málaga Centro Alameda and Fuengirola calls at the airport. Aena gives 8 minutes to María Zambrano, 12 to Málaga centre, 18 to Benalmádena and 34 to Fuengirola. A Renfe single costs 1,80 euros for the first two zones and rises to 3,60 euros for five, so nothing on the line is expensive. Renfe's station register puts five of the line's stations in Torremolinos, two in Benalmádena and four in Fuengirola, so the stop you want is worth checking before you travel.
What time is the first and last train at Málaga Airport?
Towards Torremolinos and Fuengirola, the first calls at 05:31 and the last at 23:41. Towards Málaga city, the first calls at 06:44 and the last at 00:54, reaching Málaga Centro Alameda at 01:06. The gap at the start of the day catches people out: an early landing has no train into the city.
Is Uber available at Málaga Airport?
Yes, and so is Bolt. Aena tells Uber passengers to meet their driver in the exclusive parking area for the terminal and gives the stop as Priority park T3, Floor 0. Bolt's stop is the Arrivals Car Park, Floor 0. Neither picks up at the taxi stops outside arrivals.
Where do I meet my driver at Málaga Airport?
At the airport's designated pick-up point on the arrivals level. Once you are on the ground, ring the driver on the number that came in your supplier details email and they will tell you where to walk. Express pick-up of that kind is included in what you paid; being met inside the hall with a name board is meet and greet, which is a paid extra at checkout.
Is the taxi meter negotiable at the airport?
It is the ceiling rather than the floor. The Área de Movilidad's guidance sheet for the airport ranks states that all urban and interurban services must be charged by taximeter, and that the metered amount is the maximum price. A fixed figure offered before you set off is not part of the published tariff.
How much is a taxi from Málaga Airport to Marbella or the resorts?
Leaving the city puts the journey on the Andalusian interurban scale, and that scale charges the round trip: Article 7 treats the route as a closed circuit back to the starting point unless you agree otherwise. That is why the city's guidance amounts, roughly 18 euros to Torremolinos over 10 km, 21 to Benalmádena, 36 to Fuengirola, 74 to Marbella, 87 to Puerto Banús, 99 to Nerja and 115 to Estepona, work out at about twice the distance times the kilometre rate rather than once. The night and weekend column adds roughly a seventh on top.
Can I get a child seat?
Yes, on request when you book. Tell us the ages and we pass it to the supplier with the job. Seats are not something you can rely on finding at a rank, which is the usual reason families book ahead here.
What happens if my flight is late?
We track it and move the pick-up to the real landing time at no extra charge, so book for the scheduled arrival rather than padding it. The free waiting window included in your fare starts when the aircraft lands.
Can I cancel, and how do I pay?
Cancel more than 24 hours before pick-up and you pay nothing; inside 24 hours the booking is charged in full. Payment is online by card when you book, for the whole vehicle rather than per seat, and the amount you see is the amount taken.
