How much is a taxi from Palma Airport to the city centre?
Palma de Mallorca Airport sits east of the city at Son Sant Joan, and every landside option leaves from the same place: floor 0, the arrivals level. The choice between them is about how many of you there are, how much luggage you have and what time you land, not about distance.
Our price is fixed when you book and does not move with traffic, with the hour or with the day of the week. A rank taxi is metered under the Ajuntament de Palma tariff, which charges a different flag fall and a different rate per kilometre after nine at night and all day at weekends and on official holidays, so the same short run into the city costs more on a Sunday evening than on a Tuesday afternoon.
When the rank or a local service is the better choice: on a weekday daytime arrival, travelling alone or as a couple with hand luggage, into the middle of Palma. The rank is a short walk from arrivals. Booking ahead earns its money on a late arrival, with a group, with hold luggage and pushchairs, or when your address is anywhere other than the city.
| Option | Cost | Journey time | Door to door? | Pre-bookable? |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Airport Taxi Hub, pre-booked | Cost: From £36.63, fixed, including 60 minutes free waiting after your flight lands | Journey time: 11 minutes | Door to door? Yes | Pre-bookable? Yes |
| Taxi from the airport rank | Cost: Metered under the Ajuntament de Palma tariff, with a minimum fare from the airport of 16,95 euros that already covers the flag fall, the 4,65 euro airport supplement and the first 7 kilometres, then 1,20 euros a kilometre on a working day | Journey time: About 15 to 25 minutes to the centre in normal traffic | Door to door? Yes | Pre-bookable? No |
| EMT Palma line A1 to the city centre | Cost: A single fare set by EMT Palma. We do not publish a figure: EMT's own fare page does not render one we can cite, and the municipal ordinance that would fix it is at initial approval in the BOIB rather than in force | Journey time: Airport to Palma centro, stopping at Terminal floor 0 Arrivals | Door to door? No | Pre-bookable? No |
| TIB interurban line to a resort | Cost: Charged by zone jumps and capped at the four-jump band. The published 3,60 euro band is the resident Tarjeta Única price; a visitor pays the on-board cash single, for which TIB publishes no figure | Journey time: Varies by line; the four airport lines run to Camp de Mar, Can Picafort, Cala Bona and Campos | Door to door? No | Pre-bookable? No |
| Chauffeur vehicle booked in an app | Cost: App pricing, which varies with demand | Journey time: About the same as a rank taxi | Door to door? Yes | Pre-bookable? Yes |
Where do I meet my driver at Palma?
- Clear passport control if your flight came from outside the Schengen area, collect your bags and come out into the arrivals hall on floor 0.
- Contact your driver as soon as you land, their number is in your supplier details email. Screenshot it before you fly.
- Your driver meets you at the airport's designated pick-up point for pre-booked vehicles, which Aena places on floor 0 outside the terminal building on the arrivals side, not at the taxi rank. The rank is a separate queue for passengers who have not booked.
- Express pick-up is included in your fixed price. If you would rather be met inside the arrivals hall with a name board, add meet and greet at checkout.
- You have 60 minutes free waiting after your flight lands, and we track the flight, so book for the scheduled arrival rather than padding it.
Contact your driver as soon as you land, their number is in your supplier details email.
Arrivals-hall meet and greet with a name board is available as a paid extra at checkout.
Rank, ride-hail, drop-off and the facts that move the meter
The airport minimum fare on a rank meter
The Ajuntament de Palma tariff sets a minimum fare from the airport of 16,95 euros, which the tariff says already covers the flag fall, the airport supplement and the first 7 kilometres. A short hop out of the airport therefore costs the same as a run of several kilometres.
(Ajuntament de Palma (Mobilitat), checked 14 September 2026)The airport supplement, once per journey
The airport or port supplement is 4,65 euros and is applied once per service, not once per passenger. The same supplement covers the ports.
(Ajuntament de Palma (Mobilitat), checked 14 September 2026)Luggage is free, extra passengers are not
Luggage, pushchairs, guide dogs, wheelchairs, the receipt and card payment are all listed as obligatory and free of charge in the Palma tariff. A party of five or six adds 3,00 euros and a party of seven or eight adds 6,00 euros, so the cost of a family in a rank taxi moves with heads rather than with cases.
(Ajuntament de Palma (Mobilitat), checked 14 September 2026)One tariff across the bay of Palma, in season
A joint taxi service covering Palma, Calvià, Llucmajor, Esporles, Valldemossa, Deià, Puigpunyent and Bunyola put more than 1,530 licences, described by the Govern as 77 per cent of Mallorca's total, into one round-the-clock pool. It is seasonal: the Govern release runs it to 30 September 2025 and expects it back from 1 June to 30 September 2026. In season, journeys to the Calvià resorts sit inside the same licensing pool as journeys into Palma itself. Outside it, they do not.
(Govern de les Illes Balears, checked 14 September 2026)The ten-journey card does not work on the airport lines
The Ajuntament de Palma states plainly that EMT's ten-journey bono, which several people can share, is not valid on the airport lines. Arriving with one in your pocket from a previous trip does not get you into town.
(Ajuntament de Palma (Mobilitat), checked 14 September 2026)Why we publish no city fare for the airport line
Palma's full council gave initial approval on 30 July 2026 to a new ordinance that would put the airport precinct in its own fare zone and add a 50 per cent airport supplement to single tickets paid in cash or by card. The ordinance is at initial approval in BOIB number 99 and not yet in force, and EMT's own fare page does not render a figure we can cite, so we publish none rather than print a number you might be charged something different from.
(Ajuntament de Palma, BOIB number 99, checked 14 September 2026)Dropping someone off at the terminal
The Departures Express car park allows each vehicle two free sessions a day of up to 10 minutes each, and charges from the first minute once those are used or the 10 minutes exceeded. The maximum stay is 2 hours, after which the maximum daily amount is charged and the vehicle may be towed.
(Aena, checked 14 September 2026)Palma taxi questions
How much is a taxi from Palma Airport to the city centre?
Our fixed price is quoted live on this page before you book and does not change afterwards. A rank taxi is metered instead, under the Ajuntament de Palma tariff published with Decreto 20/2025: 2,50 euros flag fall and 1,20 euros a kilometre on a working day, 2,85 and 1,35 at night or on a holiday, plus a 4,65 euro airport supplement applied once. From the airport the tariff sets a minimum fare of 16,95 euros, which it states already covers the flag fall, that supplement and the first 7 kilometres, so the three are not charged on top of one another.
Is there a taxi rank at Palma Airport?
Yes. Aena lists it at Terminal, floor 0, Arrivals. Aena's own advice is to take a taxi only from the signposted rank at the passenger terminal, to avoid anyone offering a ride away from that point, and to ask for the receipt in case you need to complain.
Is there a bus from Palma Airport to the city?
Yes. Aena lists EMT Palma line A1 running Aeropuerto to Palma centro, line A2 to S'Arenal and line 34 to Hospital Son Espases, all stopping at Terminal floor 0 Arrivals and floor 2 Departures. Four TIB interurban lines also serve the airport: A11 to Camp de Mar, A32 to Can Picafort, A42 to Cala Bona and A51 to Campos, and those stop at arrivals only.
How much is the airport bus into Palma?
We are not publishing a figure. EMT's own fare page does not render one we can cite, and the ordinance that would fix it, given initial approval by Palma's full council on 30 July 2026 and published in BOIB number 99, is not yet in force. It would put the airport in its own fare zone and add a 50 per cent supplement to single tickets paid in cash or by card. What we can tell you is that the EMT ten-journey bono is expressly not valid on the airport lines.
Is Uber available at Palma Airport?
Aena lists Uber among the chauffeur vehicle operators at the airport, alongside Raicars, Salty Driver, Autocares Marqués, Roig Bus and Transfer Class, all picking up on floor 0 outside the terminal on the arrivals side. Under the Balearic taxi and chauffeur vehicle regulation approved on 20 February 2026, a chauffeur vehicle has to be booked before the service starts and may not seek customers in a public place, which is the practical difference from joining the rank.
Where do I meet my driver at Palma Airport?
At the airport's designated pick-up point for pre-booked vehicles, which Aena places on floor 0 outside the terminal building on the arrivals side. Ring the driver the moment you are on the ground, using the number your supplier details email carries. Express pick-up is what your fixed price includes; being met inside the arrivals hall with a name board is meet and greet, a paid extra you add at checkout.
Is a taxi cheaper than booking a transfer from Palma Airport?
For one or two people going into central Palma on a weekday afternoon, the rank is usually the cheaper answer and the queue is short. The tariff is metered, so the figure moves with traffic and with the hour, and after nine at night and all day at weekends the higher rates apply. What the booked car buys is a price agreed before you fly, a driver already waiting, flight tracking, and no queue with the cases.
Do I pay extra for luggage at Palma Airport?
Not in a rank taxi. The Palma tariff lists luggage, pushchairs, guide dogs, wheelchairs, the receipt and card payment as obligatory and free. Extra passengers do cost: 3,00 euros for a party of five or six and 6,00 euros for a party of seven or eight. With us the price is per vehicle, so you pick the vehicle that fits the party and the cases and the figure does not move.
What happens if my flight into Palma is delayed?
We track the inbound flight and move the collection to the real landing time at no extra charge, so book for the scheduled arrival rather than padding it. The free waiting window included in your fare starts when the wheels are down, which covers a slow carousel or a long queue at passport control.
How much does it cost to drop someone off at Palma Airport?
The Departures Express car park gives each vehicle two free sessions a day of up to 10 minutes each; once those are used, or the 10 minutes exceeded, you are charged from the first minute. The Arrivals Express car park gives 15 minutes free and then charges for the whole time from when you parked. Both cap the stay at 2 hours.
Can I get a child seat?
Yes, on request. Tell us the ages when you book so the right seat is fitted before the driver sets off for the airport. Prices are per vehicle, fixed when you book and paid online by card, and cancellations more than 24 hours before pick-up are free while those inside 24 hours are charged in full.
Can you quote the return trip to the airport as well?
Yes, as a separate quote for the return date and time, with the same fixed-price rule. Book to the address rather than to the resort in general, because that is what the driver navigates to, and set the collection against your check-in time rather than the departure time.
