When not to book us: Seventy-one kilometres is the distance at which TIB's fare cap starts to matter: no journey is charged above the four-jump band, so crossing the whole island costs the same as a short hop, and in season the A42 runs from the arrivals level to a stop in Cala Millor. Be careful which figure you set against ours. Those 3,60 euros are a residents' rate, gated behind island citizenship and a padrón certificate; a holidaymaker buys the driver's cash ticket, whose price TIB withholds. Even so, on money alone nothing we sell competes with a capped seat fare, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. What we would put beside it is the shape of the journey rather than its price. The A42 is a summer service; for the rest of the year the airport line on this corridor is the A43, which stops at Manacor, and the fallback is line 401, which runs to Palma rather than to the terminal. Cala Millor also straddles Son Servera and Sant Llorenç, neither of which is inside the licensing pool that keeps cars circulating around Palma at every hour, so the return leg is the one people most often find harder than the outward. Two travellers, hand luggage, an afternoon landing in August: take the line. A family, an evening flight, or any date outside the season: book the car.

  1. Give the hotel name and the street. Cala Millor runs north into Cala Bona and south towards sa Coma along one long seafront, and the resort name on its own does not tell a driver which end of it you are at.
  2. Contact your driver as soon as you land, their number is in your supplier details email. It comes separately from the booking confirmation, so save it before you fly.
  3. Come out of arrivals on floor 0 and meet your driver at the pick-up point Aena assigns to pre-booked vehicles, outside the terminal building on the arrivals side. It is not the taxi rank; Aena lists that separately and asks passengers to use only the signposted rank.
  4. Flight tracking is included, so a late landing moves your collection instead of forfeiting it. Book against the scheduled arrival rather than padding it. A name board in the arrivals hall is meet and greet, a paid extra at checkout.
  5. Book the return at the same time. This is the longest run on the hub and the two municipalities that meet here sit outside the seasonal round-the-clock licensing pool that covers the bay of Palma.

TIB says so for visitors. One contactless bank card can be validated for a group of up to five, with the total charged the next day as a single amount. You must validate on getting off as well as on, or a 0,30 euro penalty applies per person.
