How this compares
| Option | Cost for 2 | Journey time | Door to door? | Pre-bookable? |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Airport Taxi Hub, pre-booked | Cost for 2: £68.01 one price per car, up to 3 passengersFrom £68.01, fixed, including 60 minutes free waiting after your flight lands | Journey time: 33 minutes | Door to door? Yes | Pre-bookable? Yes |
| Taxi from the airport rank | Cost for 2: Metered on the Canary Islands interurban tariff: EUR 1.35 per kilometre by day plus an EUR 2.10 airport supplement, with a minimum perception of EUR 3.85 that starts the meter and covers the first 1,500 metres. | Global line 91 | Cost for 2: EUR 5.45 a head, or EUR 4.95 if you are stopping at Arguineguín | Journey time: Approximately hourly, with few intermediate calls | Door to door? No | Pre-bookable? No |
When not to book us: Puerto Rico is where the honest comparison starts tilting. Line 91 is genuinely good value at EUR 5.45 and genuinely quick for a scheduled service, because it is the direct run and calls at only a handful of places between the airport and the resort: Casa Memo, Arguineguín, Sunwing, Patalavaca, Aguamarina, Barranco Balito and Barranco Agua La Perra. Two adults travelling light in the middle of the day should take it. Three things push the other way here more than they do closer to the airport. Distance is one: 51 kilometres and about 42 minutes of free-flow road, so a metered rank fare would work out near EUR 73 on our own reading of the Canary Islands interurban tariff, which would make the rank the worst of the three options rather than the safe default. The second is the shape of Puerto Rico itself, a resort stacked up the sides of a ravine where the road-level stop and your apartment block can be separated by a serious climb. The third is the airport end: line 91's timetable names the stop differently depending on direction, so check the direction on the vehicle rather than the wording on the timetable. For a party of three, for an evening arrival, or for anyone whose accommodation is above the main road, book the car and know the amount before you fly.
Where you meet your driver
- Give the apartment complex and the street when you book. Puerto Rico is built up the walls of a ravine and the level a door sits on decides where a car can actually stop.
- Your driver has to be booked before the journey begins. Spanish law requires the private hire contract to be completed first and forbids those vehicles from cruising or waiting for passers-by, which is why nobody will be calling to you at the door.
- What you have paid for is express pick-up at the designated point outside arrivals. The arrivals-hall name board is the separate meet and greet extra.
- Book against the scheduled landing time. We follow the flight and shift the collection if it slips, and the free waiting hour runs from touchdown.
Contact your driver as soon as you land, their number is in your supplier details email.
Arrivals-hall meet and greet with a name board is available as a paid extra at checkout.

Questions people ask about this route
How much is a taxi from Gran Canaria Airport to Puerto Rico?
The live figure above is for your date and is fixed at booking. From the rank you pay the meter. Puerto Rico is a different municipality from the airport, so the Canary Islands interurban tariff applies: EUR 1.35 per kilometre by day plus an EUR 2.10 airport supplement, which over 51 kilometres comes out at about EUR 73 by our own arithmetic before waiting time. The EUR 3.85 minimum perception is where the meter starts, and it covers the first 1,500 metres, so only the kilometres after them run at EUR 1.35.
Is there a bus from Gran Canaria Airport to Puerto Rico?
One line, number 91, the direct Santa Catalina to Puerto de Mogán service. Aena prices it at EUR 5.45 to Puerto Rico and puts it at approximately hourly. There is no second option on this pair the way there is to Maspalomas.
Where does line 91 stop between the airport and Puerto Rico?
Very little. Southbound the timetable lists Casa Memo, Arguineguín, Sunwing, Patalavaca, Aguamarina, Barranco Balito and Barranco Agua La Perra. It is marked direct for a reason, and it carries on afterwards to Escuela de Vela and Playa de Amadores.
Which stop do I use at the airport for line 91?
The timetable names it differently by direction: Aeropuerto Sur Expres on the southbound run down to Puerto Rico and Aeropuerto LP Expres going back north towards Las Palmas. Aena lists a single stop location for every Global line, on Floor 1 at Departures, so check the direction shown on the vehicle rather than hunting for a second stop.
How long is the drive from the airport to Puerto Rico?
Around 42 minutes free-flow across roughly 51 kilometres. Free-flow means an unobstructed road, so treat it as the floor and allow more when the south-west traffic backs up.
Is it cheaper to get the bus to Puerto Rico?
For one or two people, yes, clearly. EUR 5.45 a head against a car is not a close contest. It narrows at three people and it stops being the question entirely if you are arriving after the last departure or staying high above the main road.
Can I just find a private hire car at the airport when I arrive?
No, and not because of us. Spanish law requires the hire contract to be completed before the service begins and bars those vehicles from circulating on public roads in search of customers or parking to solicit them. A booking made in advance is the only lawful version of that arrangement.
Are there taxis in Puerto Rico for the journey back?
Yes. Mogán council issued ten more licences in September 2024, taking the municipality to 183 in total, twenty of which are wheelchair-accessible. A rank still cannot promise you a car at a given minute on a changeover morning, which is what a booking does.
Do you cover Amadores, Tauro and Arguineguín as well?
Yes, quoted individually rather than lumped in with Puerto Rico. The coast road strings these resorts close together but the driving time and the access differ, so the amount does too.
What are the cancellation terms?
Cancel more than 24 hours ahead of the pick-up and there is nothing to pay. Inside 24 hours the full amount is charged. Payment is online by card, per vehicle.
