When not to book us: Cala d'Or is the pair on this hub where the cheap option is hardest to actually use, and pretending otherwise would waste your afternoon rather than save your money. Aena lists four lines from the airport and not one of them comes here. The realistic route is the A51 out to Campos and then line 515 in, which is two legs and a wait in a market town with the cases, and it only works at all if you are holding a Tarjeta Única or a contactless bank card, because a cash single bought from the driver cannot be used to change lines. The summer service that does carry the resort's name, the 515e, runs to Palma rather than to the terminal, so that is two legs as well. Set against that, a car covers the 59 km in one go and the fare is known before you leave home. The honest exception is the traveller with time and one small bag in high season who would rather pay a seat fare than a car fare, and for them the change at Campos is a perfectly reasonable trade. For a family, for an evening landing, or for anywhere out at Cala Ferrera or Portopetro, it is not.
Where you meet your driver
- Put the exact address in, not the resort. Cala d'Or is a chain of coves, Cala Gran, Cala Esmeralda, Cala Ferrera, Cala Egos and Cala Serena among them, joined by a road that loops rather than runs, and the wrong cove is a fifteen-minute walk in the heat.
- Contact your driver as soon as you land, their number is in your supplier details email. It arrives separately from the booking confirmation, so screenshot it before you fly.
- Come out of arrivals on floor 0 and meet your driver at the pick-up point Aena assigns to pre-booked vehicles, outside the terminal building on the arrivals side. That is not the taxi rank, which Aena lists separately and which is a queue for people who have not booked.

- Book the return leg at the same time. Santanyí is a long way from the airport and it sits outside the seasonal licensing pool that covers the bay of Palma, so the supply of cars at six in the morning is thinner than it is in town.

Is there a direct bus from Palma Airport to Cala d'Or?
No. Aena lists four TIB lines at the airport, to Camp de Mar, Can Picafort, Cala Bona and Campos, and none of them serves Cala d'Or, Portopetro or Santanyí. The practical route is the A51 to Campos followed by line 515 into the resort.
How long does the drive from Palma Airport to Cala d'Or take?
About 59.2 km, roughly 36.8 miles, with a free-flow driving time of about 55 minutes on the Ma-19 towards Santanyí and then the Ma-4012 and Ma-4013. Free-flow assumes an empty road, so a Saturday changeover day takes longer.
What about the 515e, the line that says Cala d'Or on it?
It runs between Cala d'Or and Palma as a summer service, by way of Portopetro, S'Alqueria Blanca and Santanyí, and it terminates in the city rather than at the terminal. From arrivals that is still two legs, the same as the Campos route.
Can I buy one ticket for the whole journey?
Only on a Tarjeta Única or a contactless bank card, which allow two changes across three lines and cap the fare at the four-jump band however far you go. TIB's page on the on-board ticket says it is valid only for the journey on the line you are travelling on and cannot be used to change onto another, so a cash single does not cover the change at Campos. The Tarjeta Única is a residents' card, so for a visitor the bank card is the practical one.
How much is a rank taxi from Palma Airport to Cala d'Or?

Cala d'Or is in Santanyí, which is not one of the eight municipalities in the joint taxi service covering the bay of Palma, so that pool of more than 1,530 cars does not extend here. The arrangement is a summer measure rather than a permanent one, authorised until 30 September 2025 and pencilled in again for 1 June to 30 September 2026. Book the return rather than hoping.

Yes, each quoted to its own address rather than at one Cala d'Or rate. The coves are minutes apart by road but not on foot with luggage, so the address in the form is what the price is built on.
