When not to book us: Stansted is where the car comes closest to the train on time. OSRM puts the road at 58.1 km and about 60 minutes with no traffic, against 73 to 75 minutes by rail with a change at Liverpool Street, and ExCeL's own guide makes it 1 hour by car and 1 hour 10 minutes by public transport. On money, a solo traveller pays £22.80 off-peak or £25.80 at peak, which is cheap next to any car. Two people are at £45.60 off-peak and three at £68.40, still before anyone has hauled a case across the Liverpool Street concourse. So: alone, off-peak, light bag, take the train. Two or more, or landing in the evening, or carrying anything you would rather not lift onto a second train, price the car to the entrance you need.

Where you meet your driver

  1. Stansted directs pre-booked taxis and private hire vehicles to the Short Stay car parks, Green and Blue, with the collection areas outside Departures. That is where your driver will be, not at the arrivals doors.
  2. We follow the inbound, so a late landing simply moves the collection. Express pick-up comes with every booking; a driver holding a name board in the hall is meet and greet, which you add at checkout for a fee.
  3. Know your entrance before you land. Custom House is the station for the West Entrance and Prince Regent for the East Entrance and the ICC, which is how ExCeL itself splits it; the entrances are about 600 m apart.
  4. Cars cannot drive through the middle of the site: ExCeL's event pages say Sandstone Lane and Seagull Lane are closed. ExCeL lists its set-down points as West, E16 1XL, and East, E16 1FR, inside the coach and minibus section of its page, and asks drivers there not to idle.

Contact your driver as soon as you land, their number is in your supplier details email.

Arrivals-hall meet and greet with a name board is available as a paid extra at checkout.
