When not to book us: Most people flying into Heathrow alone for a show at ExCeL should take the train, and we would rather say so than sell you a car you do not need. The Elizabeth line runs from Terminals 2 & 3 to Custom House with no change in about 50 minutes, and Custom House is about 200 m from the West Entrance. It is £15.50 an adult at any time, or £9.10 off-peak if you accept a slower route that avoids Zone 1. Even the car's best case, about 64 minutes over 39.3 km with the roads empty, is slower than the train. The car earns its place in narrower cases: three of you, where the direct fare is already £46.50 before anyone has carried a case; a stand kit or sample cases; a hall at the east end, where the train leaves you about 600 m from the East Entrance; or a late landing after a long flight, when door to door is worth more than the saving.

Which traveller are you?

If you areWhat we would suggest
Travelling alone with a cabin bag, going to the West EntranceThe Elizabeth line. It is direct and it stops beside that entrance.
Three colleagues with hold luggagePrice the car. One amount covers all three of you and the cases.
Exhibitor with stand kit or sample casesBook the car to the entrance nearest your hall.
Going to the ICC or the east hallsEither works, but the train arrives at the west end, so a car to the East Entrance saves the walk through the building.
Landing late after a long-haul flightThe car. No platform, no walk at the far end.

Where you meet your driver

  1. Heathrow states that pre-booked private hire cars wait at its Authorised Vehicle Area on the Northern Perimeter Road, then collect from a Terminal Parking car park and meet the passenger at an agreed point inside the terminal. Your driver confirms that point when you speak.
  2. The flight is tracked, so a delay moves your collection instead of losing it. Express pick-up is what the booking includes; being met in the arrivals hall with a name board is meet and greet, a paid extra you can add at checkout.
  3. Tell your driver which ExCeL entrance you need. The West Entrance sits beside Custom House station; ExCeL sends ICC visitors to the East Entrance by Prince Regent. ExCeL lists a West drop-off and pick-up point at E16 1XL and an East one at E16 1FR, but only in the coach and minibus part of its page, and it does not say where cars and taxis should stop, so your driver works to the entrance you give.
  4. Heading to WTM London? The organiser's venue page puts the taxi drop-off and pick-up point at the west end of the building.

Contact your driver as soon as you land, their number is in your supplier details email.

Arrivals-hall meet and greet with a name board is available as a paid extra at checkout.

The return direction is quoted separately, because the two legs can be won by different operators. It is currently from £104 for a saloon.

Questions people ask about this route

How do I get from Heathrow to ExCeL?

Two sensible ways. The Elizabeth line runs direct from Heathrow Terminals 2 & 3 to Custom House in about 50 minutes, and Custom House is about 200 m from ExCeL's West Entrance. Or book a car at the fixed price shown above, which runs from the terminal to whichever entrance you name.

Is there a direct train from Heathrow to ExCeL?

Yes. The Elizabeth line runs from Heathrow Terminals 2 & 3 to Custom House with no change. TfL's planner showed 50 minutes for a mid-morning departure on 3 November 2026; ExCeL's own guide says 43. The adult pay as you go fare on that route is £15.50 at any time of day.

How long does a taxi from Heathrow to ExCeL take?

The road is 39.3 km, about 24 miles, and the drive is about 64 minutes with no traffic at all. Treat that as a floor rather than a forecast, because the route crosses London; ExCeL's own guide allows 1 hour 20 minutes by car.

How do I get from Heathrow to WTM London?

World Travel Market London 2026 runs at ExCeL from 3 to 5 November 2026, and the organiser puts the taxi drop-off and pick-up point at the west end, which is also where the Elizabeth line arrives at Custom House. Flying in on a show morning with one bag, the direct train is hard to beat. Travelling as a team or carrying stand material, book the car to the west end.

Can I book the trip back from ExCeL to Heathrow after the show?

Yes, as its own booking, priced in the ExCeL London to Heathrow section of this page. Give the entrance you will leave from. The drive back is 39.8 km and about 65 minutes on an empty road, so leave more than that before a flight, and more again at the evening rush.

What about a black cab from the Heathrow rank?

Black cabs rank outside every Heathrow terminal and run on the meter; Heathrow publishes no fare and points to Transport for London's guidance. Across nearly 40 km of London a metered fare is hard to predict, which is the whole case for a price agreed in advance.
