When not to book us: If you land between mid-morning and early evening, travelling light, and your apartment is near the Estacion de Playa Blanca, take line 162-D and keep your money. It goes straight down without the Puerto del Carmen detour, covering the ground in 20 minutes against a free-flow drive of about 36, and no honest comparison hands that journey to a car on cost alone. What the timetable will not do is cover your day. There are eight 162-D departures, the first at 10:20 and the last at 19:20, so a morning landing or an evening one falls back on line 161, which threads the resorts and takes 47 minutes. Line 161 itself stops at 21:30, and the only thing behind it is the single line 61 run at 22:30; the late line 162 times shown at the airport are arrivals from Playa Blanca, not departures towards it, so after half past ten at night there is genuinely nothing going south. The distance matters too, because this is 30 km of road and the meter knows it. At Fare 1 rates, a 3.85 euro start covering the first 1,500 metres and 1.35 euros a kilometre after them, plus the 2.10 euro airport charge, a rank car works out around 44 euros, and the Fare 2 band at 1.55 euros pushes the same trip to roughly 51. Is there a bus from Lanzarote Airport to Playa Blanca?

Two, and the difference between them is large. Line 162-D is the direct one: it leaves Aeropuerto T1 at 10:20, 12:20, 13:20, 14:20, 15:20, 16:20, 17:20 and 19:20 and reaches the Estacion de Playa Blanca 20 minutes later, the Muelle 25 minutes later. Line 161 covers the rest of the day, from 07:30 to 21:30, but it works through Matagorda, the Puerto del Carmen hotels, Puerto Calero and Yaiza on the way and takes 47 minutes. If your landing time lines up with a 162-D, take it.

What if I land after the last bus south?

The direct 162-D finishes at 19:20 and line 161 at 21:30. After that there is one departure, line 61 at 22:30, which reaches the Muelle de Playa Blanca at 23:24 by way of Puerto del Carmen, Puerto Calero, Uga and Yaiza, and then nothing. The late line 162 times posted at the airport are arrivals coming up from Playa Blanca, not departures going down to it, which is easy to misread and expensive to misread at midnight.

How long does the drive take?

About 36 minutes with the road clear, over roughly 30 km. The route is the LZ-2 south and then the LZ-702 through Yaiza. That timing is free-flow, so it is the best case rather than the August case.

Why is the fare from the airport higher than a taxi inside Playa Blanca?

Because they are two different tariffs. Yaiza council sets the urban rate for journeys inside the municipality at 0.75 euros a kilometre by day with a 2.70 euro minimum, and 0.80 euros at night and on holidays. The airport run leaves the municipality, so it is charged on the interurban band at 1.35 or 1.55 euros a kilometre plus the 2.10 euro airport charge. A short hop along the front is not a guide to what the airport trip costs.

Where do I find a taxi in Playa Blanca for the trip back?

Yaiza council names the main rank as the one on calle Bienvenida Martin 'La Practicanta' in the centre of the resort, which it has resurfaced and resigned, in a page it published in July 2024. It gives no count of ranks, so we do not publish one. For the airport we would book the return anyway: a fixed amount for the car, agreed in advance, beats hunting for a rank with your cases at your feet.

Can you take us straight to the ferry port for Fuerteventura?

Yes. Book to the Muelle de Playa Blanca and the quote is priced to the port rather than to the town. Fred Olsen Express gives the Fuerteventura crossing from there as 25 or 35 minutes, so the connection is tight enough to be worth a door-to-door car rather than a change of mode in the middle.

Is your price per person or for the car?

For the car. A saloon takes up to three people with three standard suitcases, an estate adds a fourth seat with the same three cases, a people carrier takes up to five and an eight-seat vehicle covers a larger group. Child seats are on request when you book.

We are flying home early. Can you collect before dawn?

Yes, and the amount does not rise for the hour. That is the practical difference from the rank, where an early start falls in the higher night band rather than being priced when you booked it.
