When not to book us: Take the train unless one of three things is true. A ticket cannot cost more than 3,60 euros, the journey is 34 minutes end to end, and Renfe's register puts four stations in the municipality of Fuengirola, which is about as well served as a Spanish resort gets. On money there is no contest and we are not going to pretend otherwise. The three exceptions are real ones. First, the clock: the last train calls at the airport at 23:41 and the first back towards it leaves Fuengirola at 06:10, and charter timetables put an awful lot of flights either side of that. Second, the end of the line is the end of the line, so Mijas Pueblo up the hill, La Cala further west and the urbanisations behind the N-340 are all a second journey the railway will not make. Third, party size and luggage: four fares and four cases on a busy coastal service in August is a different proposition from one person with a rucksack. Match the mode to which of those you are, and ignore anyone who tells you there is a single right answer on this pair.
Where you meet your driver
- Give the full address when you book, including the urbanisation name if there is one. Fuengirola addresses run from the port and the paseo to hillside developments towards Mijas, and those are materially different journeys.
- After reclaim, walk out to Arrivals on Floor 0. Aena keeps the taxi stops at Arrivals and sends the app cars to their own car parks, so go where your driver tells you rather than following the taxi signage.
- Phone or message your driver as soon as you land. The number arrives in the supplier details email, which is separate from the booking confirmation, so save it offline before you travel.
- The fare includes express pick-up, meaning the driver waits at the designated point. Meeting you inside the hall with a name board is meet and greet, which you can add as a paid extra at checkout.
- Flight tracking is included and the free waiting window in your fare runs from touchdown, so a delayed inbound moves the collection instead of losing it.
Contact your driver as soon as you land, their number is in your supplier details email.
Arrivals-hall meet and greet with a name board is available as a paid extra at checkout.

Questions people ask about this route
How much is a taxi from Málaga Airport to Fuengirola?
Ours is quoted live on this page and fixed when you book. The rank alternative is metered, and the city's guidance sheet puts the 25 km at about 36 euros in the daytime or 41 euros at night, at weekends and on public holidays.
How long is the train from Málaga Airport to Fuengirola?
Aena gives it as about 34 minutes on the C-1, which has a station at the airport and ends at Fuengirola. On the published timetable the first arrives at 06:05 and the last at 00:15, having left the airport at 23:41.
Is the train cheaper than a taxi to Fuengirola?
Substantially, yes. The most a Renfe single can cost on this network is 3,60 euros, against guidance figures of 36 to 41 euros for a metered car. For one or two people travelling light in the middle of the day, the railway is the sensible choice and we would rather say so.
Does the train carry on to Marbella?
No. Fuengirola is the terminus, with Los Boliches immediately before it and four stations in the municipality on Renfe's register, and there is no rail service beyond it down the coast. Anything further west is road only.
What if I land after midnight?
Then the railway has finished: the last train calls at the airport at 23:41. We collect at any hour and the amount does not change with the time of night, which is the practical difference from a metered fare that shifts onto a night tariff.
Can you take us to Mijas or La Cala instead?
Yes, and they are priced separately because they are separate journeys. The guidance sheet itself lists Mijas at 25 km and La Cala de Mijas at 32 km, which is a useful reminder that the western hinterland is further than the seafront.
Where does the driver wait?
At the airport's designated pick-up point on the Arrivals level. Do not queue at the taxi stops and do not head for the ride-hailing car parks: Aena keeps those apart, and your driver will direct you when you call.
How much luggage fits?
A saloon takes three passengers and three standard suitcases. An estate handles four and a people carrier five, and the largest vehicle we quote takes eight. Golf clubs and pushchairs are worth flagging when you book so the right vehicle is sent.
Do you offer return transfers?
Yes, and booking both legs at once means the outbound pick-up time is set against your flight rather than guessed. The return leg is priced the same way, per vehicle, and fixed when you book.
What is the cancellation policy?
Free cancellation up to 24 hours before the pick-up time. Inside that window the full amount is charged. You pay by card online at the point of booking.
