When not to book us: There is no cheap way to do this journey and it is better to say so than to imply otherwise. Courmayeur is on the Italian side of Mont Blanc, and the only sensible winter approach from Geneva runs up the Autoroute Blanche and through the tunnel. A single crossing for a car is 55,50 euros from 1 January 2026, before anybody has been paid to drive it. If you are two people with light bags and a spare half day, you can reach Chamonix on the scheduled coach and pick up an onward service into Italy, changing operators at the border, and it will cost less. For everyone else the booked car is doing three things a meter cannot. The toll is inside the fare rather than added at the portal. The tariff problem disappears: a metered rank car from Geneva runs on the higher cantonal scale at 3,80 francs a kilometre because the destination is outside the canton, and no flat airport fare crosses a national border. And the timing is somebody's job: the tunnel operator's own forecast calendar closes the tunnel to all traffic on Monday to Thursday nights from 22:00 to 06:00 through the autumn, so a late landing is a routing question rather than a surprise at the portal.
Where you meet your driver
- Carry your passport or identity card in the cabin bag. This journey passes through Switzerland and France and ends in Italy, and the tunnel portal is not the place to discover a document is in the hold.
- Come out to the Arrivals level and ring your driver as soon as you land. The number is in the supplier details email rather than the booking confirmation, so save it before you fly.
- Express pick-up is included in the price paid, with the driver at the airport's designated pick-up point. Meet and greet in the arrivals hall with a name board is a paid extra at checkout.
- The tunnel toll is not added at the end. A class 1 crossing from France to Italy is 55,50 euros from 1 January 2026, and it sits inside the amount you agreed rather than on top of it.
- Give the hotel address rather than the town. The tourist office sits at Piazzale Monte Bianco 15 in the centre of Courmayeur, and the centre is not necessarily where you are staying.
Contact your driver as soon as you land, their number is in your supplier details email.
Arrivals-hall meet and greet with a name board is available as a paid extra at checkout.

The return direction is quoted separately, because the two legs can be won by different operators. It is currently from £239.20 for a saloon.
Questions people ask about this route
How much is a taxi from Geneva Airport to Courmayeur?
Our price is quoted live above and fixed when you book, with the tolls inside it. A metered rank car would run on Tarif II at 3,80 francs a kilometre, because the journey is bound outside the canton, plus a 7,80 franc airport pick-up charge, and the Mont Blanc tunnel toll of 55,50 euros would be payable at the portal on top of that.
How much is the Mont Blanc tunnel toll?
For a class 1 car from 1 January 2026, 55,50 euros for a single crossing France to Italy and 69,20 euros for the return, or 56,40 and 70,40 euros in the other direction. The return leg is discounted by 75 per cent and must be used by 23h59 on the seventh day after the outward crossing.
Is the tunnel toll included in your price?
Yes. Whatever the route needs, the motorway tolls and the tunnel crossing alike, is inside the amount you agreed when you booked. Nothing is added afterwards, which on this corridor is a larger promise than it sounds.
How far is Courmayeur from Chamonix?
15 km through the Mont Blanc tunnel, by the Chamonix tourist office's own figure. They are neighbours geographically and separated by a border, a tunnel and a toll, so the two journeys have very little in common beyond the distance between them. Check the live quote on each page rather than assuming the shorter hop is the cheaper one.
Do I need my passport for this transfer?
Carry photographic identification where you can reach it. The journey starts in Switzerland, crosses France and finishes in Italy, so it passes two borders before you arrive. Keep documents in the cabin bag rather than the hold.
Can I get to Courmayeur by public transport?
In two legs and with a change of operator at the border. Scheduled coaches reach Chamonix from Geneva, and the SAT Mont-Blanc and Arriva Italia international line runs on from Chamonix to Courmayeur and Aosta at an indicative 15 euros single, with tickets sold at the Chamonix Sud coach station or online. Check the operator's own drop point against your hotel before you commit to it.
Is the Mont Blanc tunnel ever closed at night?
Yes, on a published schedule. The tunnel operator's forecast calendar for August to December 2026 lists total closures to all vehicles on Monday to Thursday nights from 22:00 to 06:00. The weeks left on it after mid-October are those of 19 and 26 October, 2 and 16 November and 14 December, with a longer closure starting at 18:00 on 24 November. The calendar can change, so a late arrival is worth flagging when you book rather than on the day.
Are winter tyres or chains needed on this route?
Yes, for the French section. From 1 November to 31 March, in the mountain communes listed by prefectural order, any vehicle with four or more wheels must carry anti-skid devices for at least two drive wheels or run four winter tyres, with signs marking each zone. Our supplier's car is equipped before it starts.
How many of us fit in one vehicle?
A saloon takes three passengers and three standard suitcases, an estate four passengers and a people carrier five. Ski bags count as luggage. On a run this long and this expensive it is worth getting the vehicle right first time rather than discovering the boot at the kerb. Child seats are available on request.
What if our flight is late, and what if we cancel?
We track the flight and move the pick-up to the real landing time at no extra charge, and the free waiting window in your fare starts when the aircraft lands. Cancel more than 24 hours before pick-up and nothing is charged; inside 24 hours the fare is payable in full. Payment is online by card at booking and covers the whole vehicle.
