When not to book us: Two people with light bags who do not mind a change will spend less getting to Moutiers by rail and taking the regional service up the valley, and once you are in the resort the free shuttles between the districts and between the villages of the valley mean you never pay for local travel at all. That is a genuinely good arrangement and we would not pretend otherwise. The case for the car is the 27 kilometres between the station and the resort, and what that section is like in February. Les Menuires itself says special equipment is no longer optional but compulsory across the whole of Savoie between the first of November and the thirty-first of March, which tells you what the road does. A metered rank car from the airport starts on the higher cantonal tariff before it moves, because Tarif II applies both outside the canton and to any party of more than three, and it keeps counting through every slow kilometre of that climb. A booked car is one number agreed in advance, to the district and the residence rather than to a bus stop in La Croisette, which with children and ski bags at the end of a flight is most of the argument.

Where you meet your driver

  1. Book to the district, not just to Les Menuires. The resort is spread along the slope in separate quarters, and the difference between them is a long walk with luggage rather than a short one.
  2. Come out to the Arrivals level and call your driver as soon as you are on the ground. The number is in your supplier details email, which arrives separately from the booking confirmation.
  3. Express pick-up is included in what you paid, with the driver at the airport's designated pick-up point. Meet and greet in the arrivals hall with a name board is a paid extra at checkout.
  4. Once you are settled, stop paying for transport. The resort says free shuttles run between the districts of the resort and between the villages of the valley, so a car parked for the week is dead money here.

Contact your driver as soon as you land, their number is in your supplier details email.

Arrivals-hall meet and greet with a name board is available as a paid extra at checkout.

Questions people ask about this route

How much is a taxi from Geneva Airport to Les Menuires?

Our price is quoted live above and fixed when you book. A rank car from the airport is metered on Tarif II at 3,80 francs a kilometre, because that tariff covers both journeys leaving the canton and parties of more than three, with a 7,80 franc airport pick-up charge on top. The canton's flat airport fares of 25 to 60 francs only reach predefined zones inside the cantonal boundary, so none of them applies here.

What is the nearest train station to Les Menuires?

Moûtiers Salins Brides-les-Bains, which the resort gives as 27 km away. Those 27 kilometres are the climb up the Belleville valley, and the resort itself flags the Moûtiers to Les Menuires section as the one to check for traffic before you travel.

Are the shuttle buses in Les Menuires free?

Yes. Free shuttles run between the districts of the resort and between the villages of the valley, and the commune confirms free inter-station and intra-station services across Saint-Martin-de-Belleville, Les Menuires and Val Thorens. The Moûtiers to Val Thorens line is a separate regional service, the S63.

Are winter tyres or chains required?

Yes, and the resort puts it bluntly: special equipment is no longer an option but compulsory in winter, across the whole of Savoie, between 1 November and 31 March. Our supplier's vehicle meets that. It is the single most common thing to overlook when comparing a transfer with a hire car collected at the terminal.

Can the driver take us to Saint-Martin-de-Belleville or Val Thorens instead?

Yes, they are the same valley and the same road, but quote them as the destination when you book rather than changing it on the day. The fare is fixed against the address you gave, and the climb above Les Menuires to Val Thorens is a real extra distance rather than a detour.

How long does the journey take?

The live estimate above covers clear conditions. Almost all of the variability is in the final section from Moûtiers, which the resort itself singles out for traffic checks, and in Saturday changeover traffic through the Tarentaise. Our price does not change if that section is slow.

How many of us fit in one vehicle?

A saloon holds three passengers and three standard suitcases. Above that it is an estate for four passengers with three cases, a people carrier for five with four, or the eight-seat vehicle we quote for eight with eight. Ski and board bags count as luggage here, and a family with skis is usually a size up from what the passenger count alone suggests.

What if our flight is late?

We track it and move the pick-up to the real landing time at no extra charge, so book for the scheduled arrival rather than padding it. The free waiting window in your fare starts when the aircraft lands.

Can you collect us for an early Saturday flight home?

Yes, at any hour and at the price fixed when you booked. Give the residence and district in the booking notes. Departures from the Belleville valley cluster into the same early window on a Saturday, so a confirmed time is worth more here than flexibility.

How do we pay, and what if we cancel?

Payment is online by card at the time of booking and covers the vehicle rather than the seat count. More than 24 hours before pick-up, cancelling costs nothing; inside 24 hours the fare is charged in full.
