Geneva Airport to Morzine taxi

From £166.04 fixed for a pre-booked saloon to Geneva Airport.

A private car from Geneva Airport to Morzine is from £166.04 for a saloon, fixed the moment you book. It covers 52.3 miles in about 1 hour 18 minutes. Morzine is the valley town of the Portes du Soleil and sits about 30 km above the Autoroute Blanche, reachable by two separate approaches, off the motorway at Bonneville or Cluses or round the lake by Thonon, which is why arrival times here vary more with the day than with the distance.

YesPre-bookable? No
Regional coach, Y91 or Y92Cost for 2: Regional fares, with the Y91 up from Thonon-les-Bains, the Y92 from Cluses and the Geneva service booked through the OURA platformJourney time: no journey time is publishedDoor to door? NoPre-bookable? Yes
Balad'Aulps Bus within the valleyCost for 2: 1,60 euros for a single journey on a ticket valid one hour, serving Avoriaz, Morzine, Les Gets, Montriond and the Aulps valley villages, with several Morzine and Avoriaz lines freeJourney time: no journey time is publishedDoor to door? NoPre-bookable? No

When not to book us: For one or two people arriving in daylight with soft bags, the regional coach network is the cheaper answer and it is a real one: the Y91 comes up from Thonon and the Y92 from Cluses, and the Geneva service books through the regional platform. Once you are in the valley it gets better still, because several Morzine and Avoriaz lines are free and the paid Balad'Aulps ticket linking Morzine, Avoriaz, Les Gets and the Aulps valley villages is 1,60 euros a journey. Nobody needs to hire a car for a week here. The booked car is about the airport end and the winter end. A metered rank car starts on the higher cantonal tariff the moment the destination is France, at 3,80 francs a kilometre plus 7,80 francs to pick up, and none of the canton's flat airport fares reaches this valley. Then there is the road. Morzine sits about 30 km above the Autoroute Blanche, and ATMB says winter holiday traffic on that motorway triples from Friday to Sunday, with 80,000 vehicles on a Saturday, with Cluses forecast as its own sector. On the day most chalets change over, a fixed price and a driver who knows whether to come off at Bonneville, at Cluses or round by Thonon is worth more than the fare difference.

Where you meet your driver

  1. Give the chalet name and the hamlet. Morzine runs a long way up its valley and out towards Les Prodains, and the address matters more than the postcode does.
  2. Come out to the Arrivals level and ring your driver as soon as you land. The number is in your supplier details email rather than the booking confirmation.
  3. Express pick-up is included in the fare, with the driver at the airport's designated pick-up point. Meet and greet in the arrivals hall with a name board is a paid extra at checkout.
  4. If you are staying in Avoriaz but landing for Morzine, say so. The Prodains Express reaches Avoriaz 1800 in 4 minutes from the valley floor and there is parking at the base station, so the sensible drop is often Les Prodains rather than the village.
  5. From November to March the vehicle carries chains or runs winter tyres because the law in the listed mountain communes requires it, which on the 30 km climb up from the motorway is a practical matter rather than a formality.

Contact your driver as soon as you land, their number is in your supplier details email.

Arrivals-hall meet and greet with a name board is available as a paid extra at checkout.

Questions people ask about this route

How much is a taxi from Geneva Airport to Morzine?

Our price is quoted live above and fixed when you book. A rank car is metered on Tarif II at 3,80 francs a kilometre, the tariff that covers any journey leaving the canton or carrying more than three passengers, with a 7,80 franc airport pick-up charge. The canton's flat airport fares of 25 to 60 francs only reach zones inside the cantonal boundary, so none of them applies to a French resort.

How long does the drive from Geneva to Morzine take?

The live estimate above measures the road to your exact address, so use that rather than a round number. For scale, the tourist office puts Morzine about 30 km above the Bonneville and Cluses exits of the Autoroute Blanche, and the Avoriaz office gives an hour and twenty-five minutes from Geneva to the resort at the head of the valley. Both are clear-day figures. ATMB says winter holiday traffic on that motorway triples from Friday to Sunday, with 80,000 vehicles on a Saturday.

Is there a bus from Geneva Airport to Morzine?

There is a Geneva to Morzine service bookable through the OURA regional platform, and two regional lines reach the resort from elsewhere: the Y91 from Thonon-les-Bains and the Y92 from Cluses. Timetables are seasonal, so check before planning an evening arrival around one.

Are the buses in Morzine free?

The resort shuttles are. The tourist office says they run free of charge on several routes serving every part of the village, in summer and winter. The wider Balad'Aulps Bus, which links Morzine with Avoriaz, Les Gets, Montriond and the rest of the Aulps valley, is a paid service at 1,60 euros for a single journey on a ticket valid an hour.

How do I get from Morzine up to Avoriaz?

The Prodains Express cable car from the valley floor reaches Avoriaz 1800 in 4 minutes, with parking at the base station, and line A runs free between the base station and the centre of Morzine. That combination is why a lot of Avoriaz visitors are dropped at Les Prodains rather than driven up.

Which road will the driver take?

One of two. The Morzine office gives the Autoroute Blanche approach, leaving at Bonneville exit 17 or Cluses/Scionzier exit 18 for the last 30 km, and the Avoriaz office adds the Thonon-les-Bains approach on the D902. A local driver picks between them on the day, which is a real advantage on a Saturday when the motorway is the problem rather than the mountain road.

Do we need winter tyres or chains?

The vehicle does. From 1 November to 31 March, in the mountain communes listed by prefectural order, any vehicle with four or more wheels must carry anti-skid devices for at least two drive wheels or run four winter tyres, with signs marking each zone. A pre-booked car arrives equipped.

How many of us fit in one vehicle?

The saloon seats three and takes three standard suitcases. The estate seats four and still takes three. The people carrier seats five with four cases, and the largest vehicle we quote seats eight with eight bags. A ski or board bag counts as a piece of luggage, so count those too. Child seats are available on request.

What if our flight is delayed?

We track it and shift the pick-up to the real landing time at no extra charge, and the free waiting window in your fare starts when the aircraft lands. Book for the scheduled arrival rather than padding it.

How do we pay and what if we cancel?

Payment is online by card when you book and covers the whole vehicle rather than the seat count. Cancel more than 24 hours before pick-up and nothing is charged; inside 24 hours the fare is payable in full.
