Geneva Airport to Samoëns taxi

From £165.81 fixed for a pre-booked saloon to Geneva Airport.

A private car from Geneva Airport to Samoens is from £165.81 for a saloon, fixed the moment you book. It covers 46.8 miles in about 1 hour 5 minutes. Samoens is a working village on the valley floor rather than a resort built on a slope, which changes the transfer in a useful way: the drop is an address in a village, not a car park at altitude.

When not to book us: Samoëns is the closest thing in this set to an ordinary journey, and the alternatives reflect that. The valley is served by the Jacquet coach lines, the Y94 up from Cluses and the Y02 from Annemasse, both starting beside the railway station, and for one or two people with soft bags and a daytime arrival they will cost a fraction of any car. From the airport the tourist office even publishes the chain itself: train to Cornavin, Léman Express line 3 to Cluses, then the Y94. This is a lived-in village with shops and buses rather than a resort reached by a single access road, so getting about afterwards without a vehicle is realistic in a way it is not at an altitude resort. The case for booking a car is the airport end and the winter Saturdays. A metered rank car is on the higher cantonal tariff from the moment the destination is France, at 3,80 francs a kilometre plus 7,80 to pick up, and none of the canton's flat airport fares reaches the Giffre. ATMB says winter holiday traffic on the Autoroute Blanche triples from Friday to Sunday, with 80,000 vehicles on a Saturday, and Cluses is the junction this valley uses, so the day most chalets change over is the day a running meter costs most. Tolls on the motorway are ours to pay rather than yours: the fare you agreed does not gain 2,20 euros at Gaillard.

Where you meet your driver

  1. Give the chalet name and the hamlet. Samoëns is a village with outlying hameaux rather than a single resort centre, and Vercland is not the Grand Rue.
  2. Come out to the Arrivals level and call your driver as soon as you land. The number is in the supplier details email rather than the booking confirmation.
  3. Express pick-up is included in the price paid, with the driver at the airport's designated pick-up point. Meet and greet in the arrivals hall with a name board is a paid extra at checkout.
  4. Motorway tolls are inside the fare. ATMB prices Scientrier to Gaillard at 2,20 euros for a car from 1 February 2026, and nothing like it is added to your total afterwards.
  5. From November to March the vehicle is on winter tyres or carrying chains because the law in the listed mountain communes requires it, and the Giffre road carries that obligation like every other valley here.

Contact your driver as soon as you land, their number is in your supplier details email.

Arrivals-hall meet and greet with a name board is available as a paid extra at checkout.

Questions people ask about this route

How much is a taxi from Geneva Airport to Samoens?

Our price is quoted live above and fixed when you book. A rank car is metered on Tarif II at 3,80 francs a kilometre, the tariff for journeys leaving the canton and parties of more than three, plus a 7,80 franc airport pick-up charge. The canton's flat airport fares of 25 to 60 francs only cover predefined zones inside the cantonal boundary.

How far is Samoens from Geneva Airport?

The tourist office gives 50 km and about an hour from Geneva airport, by the A40 to the Cluses-Scionzier exit, number 18, then 20 minutes to the village. The quote above measures the road to your exact address instead, so expect the two figures to differ. Either way it is one of the shorter ski transfers from this airport, and one of the few reachable without a long climb at the end.

Is there a bus to Samoens?

Yes. The valley is served by the Jacquet coach lines, the Y94 from Cluses station and the Y02 from Annemasse station, and both set down at one of seven stops in the village. Neither starts at the airport, so you would take the train to Cornavin and the Léman Express to Cluses first, but for a light traveller it is a genuine option rather than a technical one.

How high is Samoens and where does it ski?

The tourist office puts the village between 700 and 2,500 metres, in the Haut-Giffre valley halfway between Chamonix and Geneva. It skis on the Grand Massif, 265 km of pistes shared with Flaine, Les Carroz, Morillon and Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval.

Are motorway tolls included in the price?

Yes. ATMB prices Scientrier to Gaillard at 2,20 euros and Le Fayet to Cluses at 2,50 euros for a class 1 car from 1 February 2026. Whatever the route needs is inside the fare you agreed, so nothing is added at the end.

How much longer is the journey in winter?

Allow for a materially slower Saturday. ATMB says winter holiday traffic on the Autoroute Blanche is multiplied by three from Friday to Sunday with 80,000 vehicles carried on Saturdays, and it forecasts the Cluses sector separately. The price you agreed does not move if the road does.

Do we need chains or winter tyres?

The vehicle does, from 1 November to 31 March in the mountain communes listed by prefectural order: anti-skid devices for at least two drive wheels, or four winter tyres, on any vehicle with four or more wheels. Signs mark each zone. A pre-booked car arrives equipped.

How many of us fit in one vehicle?

Saloon: three passengers, three standard suitcases. Estate: four passengers, three suitcases. People carrier: five passengers, four suitcases. The largest vehicle we quote: eight and eight. Skis and boards count as luggage, so give us the real total when you book rather than at the kerb.

What if our flight is delayed?

We track it and move the pick-up to the real landing time at no extra charge, and the free waiting window in your fare starts when the aircraft lands. Book for the scheduled arrival rather than padding it.

How do we pay, and can we cancel?

Payment is online by card at the time of booking and covers the whole vehicle rather than the seat count. Cancel more than 24 hours before pick-up and nothing is charged; inside 24 hours the fare is payable in full.
